Hi. Anyone out there know about mylar impulse sealers? I want to make one so I can make a small hot air balloon for aerial photography. specific questions are:
1. What temperature does the sealer need to generate to mlet the mylar together
2. Is there a circuit that would allow heating with good control of say a nichrome wire heating element encased in an aluminum roller?
I've looked at impulse sealers but none allow a very long seam, and the commercial "rolling impulse sealers are all a pretty big ticket item. Any help would be greatly appreciated for yet another one of my nutty projects!

no I haven't tried that method but I will. Does it work - you've tried it before?

I would try a Brass roller wheel with a variable temperature soldering Iron attached. Brass on a steel shaft wont need a bearing.

That way you get the best of both.

Still use a material buffer over the plastic so it doesnt stick.
