i have seen a few entries for PicStamp I & II in this forum, but does anyone have any experience of PicAxe microcontrollers.. ?<p>BobMcN [england]

They are just like a stamp card except they are the basic interpreter and program memory all on one Pic chip - less space and very versatile !<p>BobMcN

Only question I have is about the power available on each pin. <p>I know a Basic Stamp can drive servos directly. Can the PicAxe do it too?<p>Michael Fagan

I cant really answer that... i dont really use servos (yet) perhaps look at the sites i mentioned above, they have loads of pdf documentation describing exactly what you are asking...

Yeah, that hippy has got some nice explainations about limitations and uses... i read it a few weeks back...
The above mentioned revolution site has quite a nice forum (not as big as this one), but worth a read if you are interested...

Yes, EPE have been doing a nice series... (they seem to be heavy into Pics !!) also i have been emailing this guy from NZ, and he writes articles for Silicon Chip magazine... we dont get that in England, and he is mailing me a copy to have a browse...
I am trying to find as many different sources of information, projects, and support for PicAxe products... as i find new sources i will post my findings...

I've got to admit I'm more intersted in just Pics themselves. <p>As you have EPE, it was part of a GCSE course or whatever they're calling it this week, it might be worth looking at some of the college/poly (now THAT does date me) websites who specialise in schools projects.<p>Now where did I put that 'O' level <p>Oh yes I'm from Kent to. PicBasic/Stamp/PicAxe do appear to be part of some school curriculum here... i have found a few sites, for simple projects (LED flash / Beep..Beep / switch-read etc) but i am really interested in more meaty stuff... anything that will push the boundaries of the PicAxe, whether it be timing, memory or maths..
In am 36 now, i wish we had this stuff in the 'tronics lab when i was at school !

No no I'm a Kentish boi unemployed and temporarily living in Ozland.<p>I started an electronics club when I was at secondary school, there was only 6 members and we had great difficulty persuading the Physics teacher to allow us the use of the classroom.<p>And now of course HND's and equivalents are now part of some schools curriculums or should that be curricula? The 70's was definitely the wrong time to be in secondary school.<p>Colin

We didnt have an electronics club - just a bunch of guys hanging around the physics lab desoldering resistors and caps off of BOC circuits boards to use of projects at home...
That was about the time the ZX81 arrived on the market ! - now i am showing my age !<p>BobMcN
