Logging Temperature

I have an outdoor wood furnace that heats my house using hot water. I would like to monitor the input and output water temperature at the furnace which is about 60 feet from my house and also capture the outside air temperature. I would like to capture this data to my PC using Visual Basic. I can run a type 5 cable (or other cable) between the furnace and my PC. Any thoughts on what products would be the easiest and most inexpensive way to accomplish this.<p>Thanks in advance for you thoughts..
