Allegro 3959

Post by Faulkner »

Has anyone here ever worked with this chip? Its a 3 amp H bridge designed for PWM, and has a few other goodies. 24 pins. For some reason I cant get it to cooperate, and was wondering if anyone knew of any design quirks that go with it? I've read all the manufacturer's info. Still nothing. All I can get is the motor I'm controlling to whine at the frequency of my PWM, but no motion. I'm lost at this point, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the motor your using a stepper or servo. If it only whines and doesn't turn, then either the frequency isn't high enough or the signal requires some phase correction. AC motors will whine and get very hot and not move if the phase angle is wrong.<p>
