I haven't tried their blue, but the white ones from Chi Wing in HK give good bang for the buck. The last pack I purchased was $23 for 100 LEDs including shipping. They're on Ebay.

After much thought on this I finally broke down and ordered 100 LEDs from eBay. (I'm trying to make a White LED strobe light.) They cost $24, including shipping, and these LEDs are VERY BRIGHT. Watch the auctions carefully as some guys charge a lot extra for shipping! Sometimes much more than the price of the LEDs themselves! Several guys have BUY IT NOW prices with FREE SHIPPING for 100 LEDs at the price some are charging for shipping alone. Watch both the size (T 1 3/4 or T1 [5mm and 3mm]) and brightness of the LEDs being offered. The brightness levels vary greatly.
WORD OF WARNING: My LEDs took over two weeks to get to me but that was because my package was inspected by customs. There was no problem and they sent them on. (Other winners in the dutch auction got their LEDs in one week.)
The LEDs I received are BRIGHT. Spot checking twenty or so LEDs show all are fairly much the same. The ones I am currently experimenting with are bright enough to read by just connecting them to 3 volts.
(BTW My LEDs came from Chi Wing in Hong Kong as well. His eBay ID is cwithk. Hopefully this link will work correctly for you
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... ms&userid= cwithk&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50)
[ January 08, 2004: Message edited by: Jolly Roger ]
