Locator tracking beacon

Post by Mr. Glen »

I need a radio tracking transmitter that has a range of 1 - 2 miles with a beam antenna. It needs to be light weight and fit inside a 40 mm tube. Any suggestions? any frequency will do.

According to my ARRL Antenna Handbook, if you construct a circular antenna of 1 wavelength circumference, it will radiate perpendicular to the plane of the antenna. In your case the length is 4.9 inches which resonates at 2388 mHz. I wonder if radiaton thru the rocket exhaust will cause attenuation? I don't know where you will find a transmitter.
