Digital Audio Recorders

I see a large number of digital audio recorders on the store shelves. Unfortunately, they are all packaged up in anti-theft packaging; so I can't see what features they have. <p>Does anyone know if these new dictation recorders will record continuously (looping). Do they have remote activation jacks or voice activated switching?<p>Cheap and off-the-shelf, these things would be great for data logging. I think they might be a better solution for applications where an audio recorder chip (with limited record time) was used in the past.
