I love the World Radio and Television handbook.
If you want to do this online, the FCC has this on their web site for free. Go here:
http://www.fcc.gov/searchtools.html
On the left hand sidebar locate AM Station Query as well as those for FM and TV. If you are wanting the direct links go to these:
AM
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/amq.html

FM
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/fmq.html
TV
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/video/tvq.html
You can search by frequency, range of frequency, city of license, or call sign. To search by a single channel (frequency) set both upper and lower channels to the desired value.
Another interesting link here is the FCC ID # search.

http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/[/URL]
For those of you working on the innards of devices that have FCC IDs, this is quite helpful. Punching in the FCC number will tell you the REAL manufacturer and in some cases link you to schematics and phone numbers. There are companies that make this search pretty and sell it for big bucks. If you don't mind dry "government" documentation, this is VERY useful and only costs for the Internet connection. (Something I would have even if I did not use the database.)

Ahhhhhh! Reminds me of the "good old days" when you would buy three consecutive issues of Radio-TV Experimenter and had a complete "White's Radio Log". Each issue had about 20 pages in the back devoted to the "log". One issue listed stations by frequency; the next by call letters; and the third issue by location. It handles AM, FM and TV stations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. I've never done a search to see if such a thing still exists outside of the "World Radio & TV Handbook".
Dean

WHERE IS THAT STATION?
This fellow offers freeware to permit the dastabase to exist on your desktop as an application
http://www.dobe.com/wts/
published by Eric Force, he also sells the database in printable form. I have it as a PDF which prints into three books--Blow torch-stations,---ALL stations, and groundwave only station lists.
A good ten buck investment that is actually quicker to use than computer 'cause it list both by frequency and name on the same page]
yodar
