need to know source of digital recording device similar to those used in "Rocky Rainbow Trout" or other similar novelty items. Must have method of programing voice and schematic for interface with turn on device.

By far the easiest way to do this is to obtain a "talking picture frame" and use its guts. Replace the junk speaker with a higher quality "real" speaker and you will be surprised how nice these devices sound. If you insist on building your own Radio Shack sells prewired modules (276-1324) as well as bare chips (276-1325). These are both made by Information Storage Devices (recently merged with Winbond).
