Did this thing ever work for long periods, or is it a new item for you? If it used to work OK, and now needs ventilation, there's a problem brewing. Glad it's running!

This ia a new item for me. I bought it on EBay a few months ago as a refurb. The first one I got would crash after a few seconds. I sent that one back and got this one. I tested it for about 15 minutes and it ran well. So, I boxed it up and figured I was set for the summer entertaining on the deck. I hauled it out yesterday for a dry run and that is when the problem showed up.

I have to echo JPKNHTP and JWAX, there is something causing a heat problem. Possibly a failed voltage regulator or even the wrong regulator. Measure the input voltage and output voltage of the regulator. Ususally regulators will be some sort of "standard" voltage like 5V, 12V, etc.
