Building a robot

I am goin to build a robot. Has any one made or tried to make one if so any ideas or pointers? What kind of wepons should i put on it flipper, saw, spinnning blade, spikes, any other you can think of? Also i will be needing some sheets of metal any clue were to get some? Thanks, Andrew
