I can find 30 pieces on the 'net, but my ancient data books do not list a 1N2907A. Do you have one? What package is it? What circuit is it used in?

The 1N2907 appears to be a very old part.<p>The table in the front of the Motorola Semiconductor Data Book (2nd edition, 1966) says that this is a 500V, "high conductance" diode. The maximum current is listed as 250 mA.<p>A "Datadex" Diode Data Book (1965) says that this is a 3500V, 250 mA diode. It shows a rectuangular case outline that is probably plastic, and lists Texas Instruments as the manufacturer.<p>The Texas Instruments Semiconductor Data Book (1967) does not list this device.<p>None of these sources indicate an "A" variation.<p>I hope you meant 2N2907A, since that is a very common part. It is a garden variety PNP transistor in a TO-18 can with several variations in plastic packages.

I have a spring 1971 SCR & DATA book. It lists the 1N2907 but not the A version. My books says PIV of 3.5K and Io 0.25A, Vf of [email protected] and that is silicon. Square body, 1.432" long by .265"
wide.

Well, thanks guys. I'm sure that I don't mean a diode - so my search is probably for a 2N2907A. I tried to read the nomenclature off the device but with these old eyes I guess I goofed. What I do need is an NPN transistor. Would a 2N2222 replace the 2N2907A ?<p>My application is at 6 volts DC - less than 100MA output and low frequency (Below audio frequencies.)

The 2N2907 is the 2222’s Siamese twin BUT it is a PNP device versus the 2222 being being the NPN version.
These are silicon planar units from development back in the mid 60’s and
probably got the most use of any units back in those days in mil spec and some industrial units of any units I remember, into the '80s.<p>73's de Edd
