Is it possible to extend the range of a cordless phone. i dont mind modifying the base unit or the handset. I know your not supposed to do it (FCC) but I am looking at third world village use.<p>Abu

Easiest is to extend the base units antenna- rooftop?

I like jwax's solution. Would like to do the same so I hope someone will give us some detail on antenna design and matching up to existing base station antenna. Would probably be different designs depending on the phone's freq: i.e. 900, 2.5 mghz, etc.

Use "Line of sight" to your advantage. Elevate the base unit and you should be able to go further.<p>The Proxim quickbridge 2.4 GHz wifi network bridge has a range of 6 miles (10km) if you have line of sight.<p>Location is everything.
