SIMM/DIMM memories
Does anyone know how to use SIMM and/or DIMM memories in microprocessor projects? Or is it really too tough to bother with?
Re: SIMM/DIMM memories
most small micros don't support dynamic ram.
Re: SIMM/DIMM memories
There is a project a while ago that I found...for a PIC processor, uses a SIMM for a media player!! It's just an example project, but all the code is there. Unfortunately, I lost everything when my laptop crashed, so I can't give you a link
But now you know it exists on the internet, so just keep looking!!
I have a couple SIMM chips that would be compatible if you're interested...
Re: SIMM/DIMM memories
I've used em for some single board computers I've
made around the motorolla 68k family.
I built my own controller from a PLD, but I
think National Semiconductor or Fairchild
make a pre-packaged one now.
Pretty much all it is multiplexing your address
space for Row/column addresses, and adding in
some refresh routines. I'll see if I can't find
my old notes...
-Bill
