OTA TV frequency reallocation

I noticed some of my local TV stations telling us that if we receive their broadcast over an antenna (OTA), we should rescan the channels after 10AM (PST) on Monday because they are moving to a different frequency and this is required to continue receiving.

Has anyone else seen these notices? I only use the antenna when cable goes out but its a good time to refresh the channels regardless.

Hi.
Yes, got that about a month ago; and for particular channels, individual notices to execute a scan when subchannels were added months ago.

Yeah, this is an on going thing.
Ever since the FCC frequency buy off.

Plus, now with the roll out of 5G for live streaming.
OTA is forced to juggle around the frequencies they will broadcast on, too accommodate for it.
Also, when new channels get added, you'll need to rescan, so you can get them as well.

i had to do this back in October,
some of my channels didn't come back on right away, because they had to change antennas out.. whick took more than 2 months,, plus they had to add onto the transmitter building to make room for new equipment.
they had to use a sky crane helicopter to change out the antenna that weighed more than 2,500 pounds.. and the antenna was bout 2,000 ft high..
Phuuuu... Everything is back on the air. But reception doesn't seem any better.

So this seems like something that needs to be done regularly because you never know. My smart TV also combines OTA with Streaming channels which tends to blur the lines, they call it TV+ but I think it is Pluto TV for the most part, which is actually quite good.

i like PLUTO TV.. but most of it is reruns.
Still better than nothing.

A lot of the streaming stuff is old TV shows.
Thou......
Many local OTA TV Stations are live streaming they're programing now.
But most streaming services will require at least 50Mbs Internet service speeds to work reliably.

People who have Netflix, and have internet speeds that are slower than 50Mbs,
were having issues waiting for the receiver to buffer, while watching a movie or show.
This was made worse if you used a WIFI connection too your TV or Computer.
Instead of connected with a wired LAN.
