I'm surprised Ozone generators have not gotten much attention yet, The do kill viruses of all types very efficiently. I suppose its because improperly used (like when you are home) it can be toxic and harm your skin, eyes and lungs so policy makers don't want to make things worse by suggesting the use of something that can so easily be misused.

The Irony is that an ozone generator does make a corona and can kill coronavirus.

your right,, they should make the so that they are set at a certain level..
a limiting sensor ( ozone sensor ) could be useful.
I used to have one of them, after a while the ozone is too strong.
i'd only use it for a few min. at a time.
I have seen some commercial hand dryers have a UV light turn on as you dry your hands.
not sure if it was a gimmick or if it really had any effect .

UV light or "Black Light" will show you how well you washed your hands.
Many germs and bacteria can be killed by UV light.
But, how well it sanitizes depends on light intensity, distance from the light source, and amount of time the surface area is exposed.
How long does it take for a UV light to kill bacteria?
Ten seconds.
The inverse square law applies to germicidal ultraviolet as it does to light: the killing power decreases as the distance from the lamps increases. The average bacterium will be killed in ten seconds at a distance of six inches from the lamp in an American Ultraviolet Germicidal Fixture.

"i'd only use it for a few min. at a time."

If you were in the room with it, you were using it wrong. Ozone generators have timers so you can set them and come back after they have shut down and the ozone has had a chance to react and dissipate. A level control is not what is needed, an occupancy sensor would do the trick.

What I didn't know and learned from this link is that they are banned in CA so I guess I can't have one anyway.

I did hear about a disinfecting robot for hospitals that would go into rooms, check for occupancy and then turn on an ozone generator and UV light for a specified period then move on to another room.

UV is good but can't reach into shadows but One can get a UV lamp for the air ducts and it will disinfect the air moved by the heater or AC. UV is one of the best water purifiers when put in after a filter.
