Odd Commercial Products.........

Back in the mid 1970's and into the mid 2000's.
I came across a few strange items that were commercial flops in the consumer market.

Example: TV Set FM/AM Digital Clock Radio.
Image

Or the Microwave TV.
Image

Though there was one unit that Sony made and tried to sell through Sears.{Sorry can't find an Image of it.} :(
It was a Microwave oven\TV\AM\FM Stereo Radio and Clock.
Targeted for the dorm student, or the family with a small kitchen.
But as I remember, the $900 price sticker was a deal breaker.

Any one else come across a strange device that never made it in the consumer market?

I'm not convinced the microwave TV is not just a Photoshop spoof.

Yeah...
That image has been photo-shopped. :x
{I'll fix it with a real picture.}

Here's the article on the Combo-TV-Microwave.

Note: While digging some more......
I did find that "Whirlpool" also tried to market one as well.

Here's a new one.
Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Camera
Image
Capture special moments with the new Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 camera that utilizes film packs (not included) to instantly provide you with photos. The new Instax Mini 9 cameras will also have a selfie mirror (similar to the Mini 25 and Mini 70) and will come with a Macro lens attachment.
Looks like Fuji wants too be the old Polaroid Land Camera.

The world is littered with Obsolete Digital cameras but ones that tried to hold onto film technology a bit too long really missed the bus. The film companies just couldn't transform into technology companies fast enough.

Refrigerators with internet aren't really taking over the world either, in order to make them attractive, they put displays on them that cost nearly as much as the fridge they are mounted on. A little Velcro and a 10 inch tablet, voila!

Ha Ha!

Well, continuing with the Odd........
THE WEARABLE DEVICE THAT TELLS YOU WHEN TO GO TO THE TOILET
Image
The wearable device is worn on your stomach, and can tell you when it’s time to go the toilet, with an app on your phone sending you a reminder
Knowing when to go, is the least of my problems!

Well, if you can stick one on your kids before you go on a road trip so you don't have to stop in the first 10 miles.... Haha

Seriously, how does it work?

THE WEARABLE DEVICE THAT TELLS YOU WHEN TO GO TO THE TOILET.
Uses UltraSound too monitor the bladder, and supposedly gives you a 10 minute heads-up before you need to go.

Oh Geez.. do we Really need this ?...lol
perhaps for some one that has bladder issues... is all i can think of..
but i don't see a big market for that..unless, people get too much into their phones, that they need the app to remind them,
what's this new age coming to ?
like i always say... if you build it, some idiot will buy it..

I see, I thought it predicted #2 too

I can see a market for certain medical conditions and toddlers (who wouldn't leave it on anyway) maybe elderly with dementia but healthy people especially that skinny young model shouldn't need one.

Get ready, Cell phone accessory makers are poised to convince us that we need to be covered with health sensors in order to survive. The watches are just the beginning. Just imagine, Electronic Underwear for Christmas

Forget about Underwear hackers, this guy's got our backs (or whatever)

I like the toast printer, Inspired by Jesus Toast no doubt, perfect for Christmas. Now I just need a 3D printer to make Cheese doodles in the shape of my Avatar. (Yes, I know there are food printers now)

A dumb Idea......
Mother Spoon - Electronic Sensor Spoon Shares Your Recipe
Image
"Basically what happens is that you and your mom buy your own pair of Motherspoon and register onto a dedicated platform for file sharing. So when you mom cooks her recipe and uses the spoon to taste her food, the sensor laden spoon picks up the ingredients and deciphers the recipe. When put on its cradle, the spoon loads the recipe to the sharing platform so that you can access it, even if you live miles apart."
Never made it to market.
