I guess you never looked at an LED spec sheet either!
LED Reverse voltage 5V PERIOD!
LED "bulbs" would have a diode and current limiting (probably not resistor) built in.
Dacflyer is not looking for a single blue LED "bulb" at 120VAC. According to link he wants equivelent light to 10W incandescent in blue instead of white. That one for $20 you suggested seems like a fit.

Re: need help to find blue led bulb
ughhh.. i gave up and just ordered the white ones.. I'm tired of trying to impress my bosses and supervisors, let them deal with the inferior crap they order.. you know they are always gonna cheap out on stuff as they can..
Re: need help to find blue led bulb
Word on low voltage DC base configuration.
If the two bottom contacts were used for the power, the polarity of the LED could easily be reversed, unless the side locating projections provided proper orientation, and obviously 'standard' bulbs don't have polarity issues. Yes, circuitry can be added to allow for this error but now the dollar store balloon cost ten dollars! The UK uses 240 VAC, DC lamp sockets and the lamp shell only holds the lamp, no electrical function.
