Forum Update! Upgrade & Attachment Uploads

Post by Sean Lemieux »

Hey everyone! Here's the update:

First, we've upgraded our forum to latest version so we are now on version 3.2.3.

Second, I believe the attachment issue is now fixed! Please try direct uploading of your attachments and report any malfunctions to me.

Thank you!

Testing; Copying from computer file and pasting to this reply box :

file:///home/externet/Desktop/Screenshot%20from%202018-10-07%2012-23-29.png

-Failed-

file:///home/externet/Desktop/Triangles.jpg

-Failed-

See no 'full editor' option while in editing mode.

Trying the 'insert image' icon above this composing box :

-Failed-
Or am doing something different to what am supposed to while attempting inserting an image, but woks fine in other forums. ( To me, inserting is any non-typed-text content between lines within the post. Attachment is a link, a thumb image, an audio file, viewable by clicking at it. )
At least, this response was not lost into limbo when submitted.

Is there any specified process to follow in the 'instruction manual' for this software version to insert a file residing in the user computer ?

Externet: to place an image (attachment) into your reply, open the "Full Editor & Preview" mode. Click the "Attachments" tab below the text box. Click "Add Files" and browse to the file you would like to attach (jpg, png, bmp, etc.). Once selected, it should show the upload with a green check mark. If you get a yellow triangle with an error message, it means we don't allow that file type. Select "Place Inline" if you would like it to appear in the text.

If you have the "Insert Image" button above the text entry box, then you are in Full Edit mode.

That button is for images on another server somewhere. Don't touch it!

Go below the text entry box. See the "Submit" (and 2 others) buttons about in the (side-to-side) center?

A little lower on the left are 2 tabs, select the "Attachments" tab. "Browse" find image file on your computer, "Add the file".

A little lower still find "Place Inline" button and click it. Attachment tags appear in text entry box (so have cursor in place first).

Be very careful not to alter the tags or contents.

When you hit "Submit" the image should appear with text above and/or bolow it (depending on where cursor was).
