Happy Holidays every one!

Another year of COVID.

One of my brothers suffered multiple strokes, and is slowly recovering.
Thus, I have to take care of him, even though he thinks he can still be in charge.
Lost one of my dogs, {Petey} in March.
DCFN5.JPG
{Here they are, Petey & Penny. Petey is the one sitting, while Penny is laying down.}

Had multiple things break, that had to be replaced. :(
Sump pump for the septic system.
Water Heater.
Microwave.
ADSL Modem.

In October I had to deal with a Hornet Nest that was in the basement.
{Got stung by one.}

On the good side.....
The potato patch I started, produced about three dozen potatos.
The green beans I started, produced as well, but the last two runs of beans were hard and stringy.
The tomato patch produced as well, but they're size was smaller, but meatier and flavorful.
My green bell peppers produced well, even with the insects chewing on them.

things just gotta be better next year....
I kicked to the curb one of my old friends..his drinking has gotten worse and worse, and hell call me up on the phone and belittle and insult me for no reason. I've forgiven him too many times..he's like Jeckle and Hyde when he drinks, and the next day like life is normal,, I had enough, I don't need this in my life anymore..time to clean the slate for next year....things MUST get better.....

I finished my dog house mansion..for my elderly great dane.. he can't be in the house any more for health reasons..but his dog house is plush...
It's 4 ft tall, 4ft wide, and 6ft deep...insulated with a little 400W equipment heater with fan and thermostat , plastic curtain like them freezer curtains to block the wind...he loves it.. I could even rent it out if needed...lol

hope everyone has a better new year than this one.. Cheers !

Best to you, Dac! Been a tough year here. Hardly ever even check this board anymore. Sounds like your Great Dane has a nicer house than I do! Nice to see you are still around. If I ever think o f something clever to say or ask I will do so.
Have a great New Year!

Happy Holidays everyone!

One more year of COVID.
But the current strain seems to be not as bad as the previous ones. :|

Well, the weather has been nasty this past last year.
Hail storm back in May, put holes in the roof, and thus had to get it repaired.{Ugh!} :(

The Air Fryer's that I got from Menards, both popped the thermal fuses in them within 3 months.
{Luckily, Menards refunded my money on them.} :)
Well, I've given up on air frying for now, and will maybe look at better made units.

On the Medical Side....
My other brother suffered heart valve failure.
Requiring multiple bypasses, and replacement of a heart valve.
Then complications set in, and he ended up losing part of his right leg.
He is currently recovering, but it is taking rather long to get the stuff he needs.

In the Garden...
The potato's that were in the compost pile didn't make it over the winter.
Didn't get many bell peppers, but the tomato patch did good.
{Didn't plant anything else, because way to busy with both brothers.}

On the good.....
The local thrift food store, got restaurant quality chicken strips in.
{I got several bags of them! Yum!}

Happy Holidays every one!

Another year has passed.

Lost my dog Penny, in December.
IMG_20220506_194223.jpg
Had more things breaking, that had to be replaced. :(
Sink Garbage Disposal bearings wore out.
Lawn Mower broke the piston rod.{21 year old Lawnboy, Only once did I have to rebuilt the carburetor on it}
Found a Old Toro Recycler Mower for $20.00 to replace it. Needed a new Spark Plug, Oil change, and Air filter.
Runs fine, But doesn't have the power that the Lawnboy had.

In the Garden.....
The tomato patch produced well, but they're size was smaller, but still meatier and flavorful.
My green bell peppers produced, but the size was smaller.
Plus, the insects were chewing on them.

So sorry to hear about Penny.

Broke a piston rod? That's not too common.

Yeah, my garden started off like gangbusters, but by mid summer things were not so strong. Plus we had a rabbit in the yard that the dog couldn't catch.

Yes,
The rabbits around here have gotten rather bold.
Since Penny could no longer chase them, being so old.
I would find them sitting outside my back door waiting for me to let her out in the morning.

Janitor Tzap >> Sorry to hear of your dog.. I lost one as well a few months earlier. 180lb Great Dane.12yrs old.

Lawn boy 2 cycle mowers were unique, exhaust would blow up under the deck. Lime green color, aluminum deck. I've had a few,.

7-Dust usually works good in the garden.. horse / cow dung are great in the gardens for fertilizer..

Broken rod and carburetor are unusual failures. On old ones, worn bottom shaft bush or weak spring leaf between carb and crank case made carb adjustments to "touchy" to adjust for running. Hitting a rock would bend crank more often than break a piston rod.

7-Dust left me confused for a couple seconds. He means Sevin, not 7 (spelled seven). hee, hee

Cheers for the new year,

A broken rod is unusual.
But carburetor problems are quite common with 2-cycle Engines.
If you run the motor dry, and then store it for a year or longer.
The rubber gaskets will dry out, and can crack.
Thus, a lot of old timers with chainsaws would dump 2-cycle motor oil in to the gas tank.
Remove the spark plug. Press the primer bulb, or pull the starter rope 10, 20 times to work the oil in to the carburetor.
Before they stored it way till they needed it.
Then when they pulled it off the shelf to use it.
Drained out the oil, remove the spark plug, pull the starter rope to work the oil out of the carburetor.
Then put the spark plug back in. Fill the gas tank with the oil & gas mix{1-32 or 1-50}.
Prime the carburetor, and give it a few pulls on the starter till it starts.
That's kinda what I did with the Lawnboy mower.
But instead of oil, I used a fuel stabilized instead when I would store the mower over the winter.
