we could all drive air cars on an acrylic highway and use the static electricity to power the rest of the world.
There are no real air cars.
Static electricity can not power anything because it is by definition not moving
The asphalt companies are stopping us from making other kinds of pavement.

off subject on the shuttle disaster.
Sprite lightning at what altitude ?
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f ... 200326.DTL
There are different lightnings:
http://www.aip.org/pt/vol-54/iss-11/images/p41fig1.jpg
and of ions (which include protons)
water covers 2/3 of the earth, having an ecologic cycle lower impact on safety:
http://www.comtech-pcs.com/ions/whatareions.html
We just don't understand everything about Protons and electrons. The natural low altitude type of energy such as ions in a waterfall are more friendly out of the different statics, water behaves more predictable and is not always high voltage as previously thought.
[ June 07, 2003: Message edited by: dimbulb ]

No free lunch huh...How bout putting a lightning rod in a pond full of fish...
If your brave enough to start scooping up stunned fish with the storm cloud still over the rod then you deserve free fish... ;)

it discharges?
