Talk to oneself

Post by Lenp »

Since there has been almost no posts here, I thought that for those of us that may find a need to talk to ourseves, sending oneself an email could be approporiate :???:

If you are having an email problem, sending yourself a test message, may not show a problem if the sender and receiver addreses are both on the same server.

For a more dynamic test, The Berlin University maintains an echo server, and why I'm not so sure, but if you send the address below an email message, it will return an email to you within seconds, from accross the world! Your message can be blank but it seeems that it must have some text in the 'Subject' block. The address is [email protected]. Berlin University is a legitimate schol, so if they are gathering any information from you, it seems quite benign. I hope this is a useful addition to your arsenal of fix-it tools!

Note:
In the following sample message, the pound symbols spell TU BERLIN but the font's spacing is corrupt, and there is even different spacing in the message composition and preview boxes on this site and the received emai!
I also changed my email address in the sample to 'You@youradress' to help thwart bot spam!

We don't know if the Bots are talking to each other do we?

So, maybe, this is now a ''private'' chat line?

Dac Sir,

How was Germany? I keep up to date on all the news postings from around the world, but how does Germany feel to you?

That is superb, one day I hope to visit Germany. I learned how to machine metals under the tutelage of a German machinist, and I still have the black eye 20 years later. The villainous schoolmaster.
