Propane fuel tank monitor gauge.

Post by dacflyer »

i bought me one of these wireless monitors a few years ago.

http://blog.propane.pro/blog/the-wirele ... ouch-0204/

problem is, they are junk. they work a short time then quit. i have worked on this a few times and never can figure out what the fault is.
the unit just mysteriously starts to work again. the RF chip has no numbers on it. i kinda suspect it, but cannot figure out for sure. the unit transmits only every few min.

the sensor is a simple hall effect device that clips onto a sensor ready gauge.
i'd like to make a circuit that i can adapt to a digital or analog meter.

i am not sure what to look for in design. the sensor is analog output i am sure..
so i think i need something that is "analog to voltage" ? and then adapt a Led (preferred) or LCD display.
it does not need to be wireless, but if it was, would be great. but a wired unit sounds to be easiest for now..

there is nothing available on the net that is ready available to buy. so i have to make my own.

i have seen some led volt meters online, but they are self contained 2 wire units and therefore i cannot use it as a display..

From the PDF on the the unit the sensor is a ROCHESTER GAUGES R3D SENSOR. It operates from 3.5 to 6 volt DC with an analog output voltage depending on the supply voltage and tank level. Simple 3 wire device could be connected directly to a voltmeter as a wired monitor. Only needs a supply voltage.

Hmm, i was not able to find info on the sensor.. can you show me info on it..
if it works that simple i can adapt it easily to most anything..
led bargraph or volt meter display or such...

Flac Dyer . . . . .

And it looks like the real "meat" of the analog data aspect of the unit is given here:

Thassssitttt.
