I think most of us could breadboard a simple rf transmitter-receiver with a range of
a couple of hundred feet. What I need may not be available because it's too simple!
I'm looking for a device that could be carried in a pocket, hung around your neck like
a pendant, or worn like a wristwatch. When you press a button it sends a signal to
another person carrying the same gizmo. A basic "beep-beep-beep" would be fine.
A range of 200 ft. would be more than enough.
I've got two elderly relatives (very healthy) that will never use a cell phone or a
computer. Instead of shouting when help is needed, I want them each to have
a tiny rf beeper. Anything I could build at my workbench would not be small enough.
If it's not very convenient to carry, they won't use it.
Is there a manufactured product?
(A couple of simple frs/gmrs radios I purchased were quickly returned to me. They
hated them immediately.)

The transmitter is perfect. That 56db teddy bear receiver is fine for a small child
who wanders away from a parent. My elderly uncle is not going to walk around
with a plastic teddy bear. All they need is a peaceful beep-beep-beep.

True. But the electronics are done, especially the RF part, and are very small. IF you can get the bear open (without destroying the circuit ) it can be rehoused in something more appropiate. My elderly uncle is not going to walk around with a plastic teddy bear.
Sound level can be reduced with some cotton or foam and/or a resistor in series with the speaker/buzzer.All they need is a peaceful beep-beep-beep.
Cheers,

Indeed. Google "Child Locator" to see a large selection of similar devices.
Some repackaging may be necessary.

A beeper is probably not going to change their behaviour of shouting across the house to each other but I understand you have to try
Re: Tiny 2-Way Beeper Needed
Try Visitect Inc. They have or had Keychain transmitters and moderately small receivers.
Receivers were available as kit transmitters were not.
