Recording analog tv programs

Post by spindown »

I have an RCA lcd tv connected to Directv and a Magnavox dvd player and vcr combo.
I'm able to record vcr tapes from satellite programs but when I switch the tv
to analog HD stations I can't record these programs but the vcr continues to
record the satellite program. I have called RCA and Magnavox but they haven't helped.
Can someone advise me how I can record the analog tv antenna programs?
Thanks Paul

Well, first off......
Does the VCR/DVD player have a ASTC TUNER in it?

If it doesn't, like most of them don't.
You'll need to get a DTV Converter Box to connect up to the VCR/DVD player inputs,
as well as connect an antenna to the DTV Converter Box and scan the channels into it.

If your DirecTv Satellite Box is connect already to the VCR/DVD player inputs.
You may need to get a switch box that will allow you to switch between the Satellite box and the DTV Converter Box.

Here's one setup I use for doing both.

Yes Janitor Tzap my VCR/DVD player does not have a tuner. Thanks for your
response and will try your suggested hookup. Paul
