extra displays for register

Hi everyone,<p>I'm playing with an old TEC cash register for educational purposes to see if I can add extra displays off the unit to put in different locations.The register has an display on top of the unit for people to view. Has anyone done this before? I suspect the displays may need their own power supplies but how hard would doing the digital display part be.I have moderate knowledge of electronics.<p>Your input is appreciated.
