Atomic clock receiver for PIC?

Looking for a WWVB Atomic clock receiver to interface with a PIC. Looks like there used to be one for the Basic Stamp, but it has been discontinued. Anybody know of one?

I’m assuming you’re needing the std 1 PPS out.I only remember one unit that came out of Nevada and seems like it was quite a small, neatly packaged unit. The unit was/is ?...:

Also as another alternative, I remember Phoenix Hams involved in the utilization of GPS for reference and were offering kits for same ….but were a bit pricey, overall. E.G. ….:

Finally seems like the economical route to go might be the utilization of the “innards” of
the drastically declining pricing of consumer oriented clock units.
I was quite happy to have acquired one of the Oregon Scientific units a few years back in the low $20 range. I was even more surprised recently to find a cluster of~2 doz digital alarm clocks at an unclaimed freight outlet all priced at $3.95 as well as a trio of odd ones in the cluster. Two that were 4 in pedestal models that also read out the temp and the third that was a chromed (Mylar) Sharper Image Unit……an Atomic Controlled clock…needless to say that was snapped right up.

The first unit you mention has apparently been discontinued. The second isn't cheap at $179!
I noticed that Atmel has two chips (T4227 & U4223B link: http://www.atmel.com/atmel/products/prod515.htm) that will recieve WWVB signals, but not much info seems to be available, plus they seem to be European.

I suggest you build a simple reciever for wwv using an mmic to boost the signal. Concidering that some areas will need more recieve power so the addition of an automatic gain control and some filtering.<p>[ January 03, 2003: Message edited by: dim bulb ]</p>
