Looking for plans for a 12 volt 15 amp voltage regulator that will have a input voltage of 48 volts
Thanks
Moe

Re: 12 volt 15 amp voltage regulator
Check the National Semiconductor line.
They had one all the way to 120 volts input.
Also any one of the standard regulators can hold a 37 volt differential, regardless of the input voltage.
This means you can input a common LM regulator with 80 volts and drop the difference by 37 volts.
National made lots of heavy regulators back in the 80s, 10, 20 amp etc, and you can also use a small regulator with a huge transistor to carry any load.
For the minimal loss Buck boost regulators are the best, when used with Fets.

Hi Moe,
I strongly suggest you using DC-DC. A simple calculator will let you know how many watt will this regulator using up: 15amp x (48-12) = 540Watt! You can use this power supply to bake your bread.
A 200W DC-DC power supply won't be too expensive, and it's the realizable way for you

moe- Your plan would depend on whether you're starting with 48 VAC or 48 VDC.

Sorry I will be going from 48 volts dc to 12 volts dc with a current draw of 15 amps
