I do not have a lot of experience with circuits, so forgive me if this is a stupid question
I have been reading thru the above material in the Dec08 N&V Q&A Section. The schematic appears to have C1 in parallel with R1 & R2. Is this correct?
Not knowing anything about how a 555 timer, I have been "googling" some to find materials that explain how the 555 timer works. Seems like the article uses the "astable" mode. Most (if not all) of the schematics I have found have C1 in series with the resistors, not in parallel. Seems that in the circuit in the article, C1 shorts?
Thanks for any help.

You have found a typo. The timing capacitor, C1,gatoruss wrote: I have been reading thru the above material in the Dec08 N&V Q&A Section. The schematic appears to have C1 in parallel with R1 & R2. Is this correct?
should be returned to common (GND) from the
THR and TRG pins (and not the Vcc pin).
