Mr. E. MacHine trouble

Post by poseidonx »

If anyone can help me with this
it would be appreciated.
Im building the 555 timer
version of the e machine.
heres the problem,it will not
pulse at all and when i connect
it to the coil it burns out the
transistor.I have went over everything
more then once and also checked the
555 and its ok.I am wondering if the
r5 value is incorrect it states 1k
and the uc version is 100k or 1m
quite differnt between the two.thanks
for any help.
I have done some more testing the 555
is pulsing to the base of the 2n2222
but, when checking pules at the collector
there is none just a steady voltage
which does vary when i adjust the pot.
it has something to do with the switching
circuit but i have built it to the
specifications in the article.I even went as far
as rebuilding the whole thing still the
same problem.this is driving me nuts!
thankyou for any help.
[ August 20, 2004: Message edited by: poseidonx ]
[ August 20, 2004: Message edited by: poseidonx ]
[ August 21, 2004: Message edited by: poseidonx ]

I don't know if I can help you much but the difference in the resistor values between the U.S. and U.K. versions is probably because the UK version deals with 220 volt mains while the US is 110. Hope this solves at least part of your difficulties.
