Any open source software to control printer steppers? I have a plasma cutter and want to translate simple outline graphic figures into stepper commands to operate typical printer (old battleship Epson FX-85)stepper motors in X-Y plane. Thanks

If you are or want to run 3 printer motors directly from your parallel port, let me know. I will send schematic and sample program. You can probably make it accept Gerber files.

BTW Assuming your printer circuit board is still intact, the only parts you will need is 8 or 12 resistors to drive the gates on the motor coil transistors and 1 inverter chip if you can’t find one on the board.
