Toshiba Dynabook EZ486P Re-programmable?
I recently acquired a 1990 vintage dedicated word processor laptop, a Toshiba Dynabook EZ486P. Very solid laptop construction and features a fold-up clam shell backlit LCD display. Unfortunately for me, while the keyboard can be switched between English alphabet and Japanese, all of the on-screen instructions are in Japanese, which I don't speak. Is it possible to re-program a device like this to display the instructions in English? I understand 3 million of these machines were produced but I don't know if there was an English version or not. It uses a standard floppy disk, is capable of MSDOS, has its own thermal film printout and also outputs to external printer and external display. Anyone familiar with this model Dynabook?
I am not sure how you are going to do this Richard.
I would assume that OSD is handled by micro... most OSD's are.
Sooooooooo.....
What micro?
If you find that out, how to reprogram it?
And if you find a way to reprogram it... you would need a compiled english version of code for that micro to display english text...
I would simply learn Japanese.. much easier.
