c compiler for PIC.

Post by philba »

I don't know if this is well known but I recently downloaded a copy of the Mikroelectronika C IDE. It appears to be free with a 2K code limit. There is a paid version but I don't see where they hit you up for money. It looks to be quite well done. The manual is very detailed with lots of examples. Perhaps the most impressive part is the library. They have library code for almost every possible PIC resource - Usart, EEPROM, Flash, SPI, I2C, one wire, bit banged comm (serial, spi, i2c), LCD, CAN, compact flash, sd memory, mmc card, rs-485, manchester encoding, ADC, PWM and more... The manual even has circuit diagrams for these. Very well done.
The IDE looks well thought out and seems to work.
The code generation looks ok though I really have not done enough to have a real feel for it.
Overall, it looks like a very well done package, epsecially for a beginner to microcontrollers.
[ May 30, 2005: Message edited by: philba ]
