strange Toshiba behavior ..
my laptop is acting strange..
i thought my KB was going bad, the numbers keys were acting like they were going bad.. on the numbers KP, and the row across the top of KB, some numbers respond like they should, and other act like they don't work at all. if you hit the number key a few times it works.. or if you just hold the key down...as if it has a delay in response.. the J and X key doing the same.

thinking what could be causing this.. virus protection and malware are up to date..
anyone got any ideas ?
already changed KB once with genuine KB and it still does the same..
getting frustrated here.. especially when having to enter passwords..

i read thru the tips,, nothing of any help..
i did reload drivers.. no effect..still same issue..

I wonder if the windows OS is corrupted?

I've been reading about Malware, Spyware that messes up the settings in windows where it effects the mouse & keyboard.
Reinstalling the drivers doesn't solve the issue.

But.....
Windows 10 has a Recovery Feature that lets you Reset Windows.

Type into Search Settings

Now double click on Update & Security(windows Update, recovery, backup)

Left Column click on Recovery

Click on Reset this PC

Then chose Keep my Files

What this does:

Reinstalls Windows 10 and keeps your personal files.

Removes apps and drivers you installed.
Removes changes you made to settings.
Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)

You will have to reinstall any programs/games you installed, unless they came with the computer.

It is a lot like old System Restore.
But takes the system back to it's default state when you first got it.

First determine if it a software or hardware issue. If you can boot to a DOS screen, try the keyboard there.
Maybe in POST there is a entry area where you can try the keyboard. The POST is before Windoze loads.

Yeah, there's an idea.

Get into the BIO's CMO's settings.

Set the first Boot Device as CD\DVD-ROM {If it has one.}.
OR
Set the first Boot Device as USB Device.

The get a Stand Alone copy of Linux on a CD\DVD-ROM or USB Thumb Drive.
Boot up the Laptop from the Stand Alone copy of Linux.
It will use it's own drivers.
Thus, Windows is completely by passed.
Once it is done booting up.
Go and check the keyboard keys, and see if your still having the issue.

If the problem is still there.
Then you got a hardware\firmware problem.

If Linux works just fine.
Then Windows has been corrupted in some way.

Are you pressing F2 from a cold start?
A warm start is after the POST
(Power On Self Test) period.

i press f2 as soon as something shows up on screen..

how do i know for sure ?
should i do it right after i press power on ?

Some systems may use other keys, but F2 is most common. Google your model just to be sure.
Generally the procedure is to start tapping F2 as soon as you power up. Holding the F2 may work but it could create a 'keyboard stuck' error! The BIOS screen or a text message asking if you want to enter should appear.
Once the Windows screen or message appears... you missed the boat!
