Forgot Login password to Windows 8.1

Hello there moderators. It's been awhile for me as I've learned a lot from all of you and I like to say I very much appreciate all your help and thank you.
I now have a friends laptop which her daughter is now locked out to open her windows due to her nephew, (known as a trouble maker), changing the password and not admitting he did it.
So with that said this is a Windows 8.1 system and i normally can by pass that through the other windows and unfortunately no luck with this one.
Please with your knowledge help me to get her back into her windows. This would be a great x-mas gift for her.

There are several methods suggested online. GOOGLE FOR "Reset win 8 password" and let us know of any that work.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did Google it and none of what came up worked. And so with that I just Formate C and reloaded windows 8 for her.

Did you add a second user with Admin rights and a password only you know?
Doing that will allow you to reset instead of reload next time..

well, this is not a good ideal as the data will be formatted with reinstall. Actually, there are many tools(nptpassword, ophcrack, uukeys) to
reset windows 8.1 password without any data loss.

Not sure about your answer , the nptpasswor and ophcrack are free way to recover lost password on Windows 8 . but the uukeys isn't .
If you want to recommend some free way for Windows 8 login password reset or recovery , the Microsoft account is one of the free way ,

If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.
If you're using a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online.
If you're using a local account, use your password hint as a reminder.
