network key retrival

i was at my aunts house on vacation, she has wireless network there, but i cannot log onto network because she does not know what the network key is. i found it, but its not viewable ( password )
all i know is it is 8 characters long.. her carrier is "Acore" German network provider.
anyone know how i can find out what it is ?

It's possible a program like Asterisk Key might work, but I am not 100% if it works with your network files.. Worth a shot - as it is free.. Perhaps another program similar would work with your network files - worth checking into maybe! Google...

And it's probably a lot easier to call her ISP and have the password changed.

I'm probably too late but:

On a PC directly wired to the router (cannot be wireless) you can log onto the router at (typically) IP address 192.168.0.1 (look for a label on the bottom of the router or its user manual).

Once logged onto the router, you should be able to view the password unmasked. However if someone password protected the router or the connected PC you will need that PW as well. Last ditch is to reset the router with its reset button and reconfigure the network from scratch.

If you cannot gain access to the router or any hardwired PC on the network, then you are stuck. Its not intended to be cracked especially the stronger encryption modes.
