i have some word files .DOCX that cannot be read by microsoft office 2000 ( WORD )
is there a setting i can select so that i am able to read the files ?
i had microsoft office7 i think it was, but did not like how it was set up..
any suggestions ?

Microsoft has a add on pack for Word 2000 and Word 2003.
It is call the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Office 2007"

i currently have microsoft office 2000, some of the files i have are from MS2007
the Compatibility Pack is for MS2007 ? or will it make MS2000 be able to read MS2007 ?

For users of Office 2000 - 2003, the Compatibilty Pack lets you convert Office 2007 (and newer)
formats without resorting to upgrading your version of Office. Check out the link, MS has the
info there.

another plus for MicroSoft.. ha ha ha.. they always change things on you.. get used to doing something, and they'll change it.. why not leave the WORD documents .doc? what would have been wrong with that? I, now, save my doc's as the old .doc.. no more .docx because not everyone has the newer WORD program to open them with..
