Help restoring bookmarks, please ?

Post by Externet »

Hi all.
Saved all the bookmarks from a full Ubuntu Linux 7.10 hard drive to be decommissioned :

Places > Computer > Filesystem > Home > externet > View > Show hidden files > .mozilla > firefox > mej7k7lx.default > bookmarkbackups > latest date > dragged and dropped to memorystick drive.

They are all healthy and accessible residing there.

On the new hard drive, loaded same Ubuntu Linux 7.10
Now I cannot put the 1 Mbyte bookmarks files back by following the reverse procedure  Help please

Bookmark backups wasn't the latest version of your bookmarks but it will do if you've already overwritten the drive which you seem to have done. To import your bookmarks open Firefox, click Bookmarks, Organize Bookmarks, Import and Backup and finally Import HMTL. Done. Select only the most recent backup or you'll have duplicate entries for older bookmarks.

Glad to be of service. For the record the Bookmark file you want is:
Places > Computer > Filesystem > Home > externet > View > Show hidden files > .mozilla > firefox > mej7k7lx.default > bookmarks.html

You can also use Firefox -> Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Export HTML.
