Thank you CeaSaR. That gave me some hope, but I don't think it solved it. I did write a startup for the thinkpad, and it started to do it's thing but stopped because the power management settings prevented it from something.

Now I am thinking about pulling the hard drive out and reloading something on it, but I don't know if this will work. Any suggestions?
