basic RC info

Post by dutch »

Looking for a good basic book on RC. Want to build a simple RC weed eater !!.
But, finding the basic information to get started is difficult, or, I'm just looking in the wrong places.
Thanks in advance

dutch, a good start at RC is RC Modeler magazine which you can find at any news stand. They have adds for servoes and radios and articles on basic RC from time to time.
The basics are, the radio you hold in your hand has pots that send info to radio receivers in the model. They in turn send signals to the servoes.
The basic servo signal is a time. Every 20 milliseconds a 2 millisecond pulse is emitted.
This pulse tells the servo where to go. 1 millisecond is full counterclockwise. 1.5 msec is center and 2 msec is full clockwise.
Also, I recommend using model airplane techniques for building robots.
