looking for a larger display..

Post by dacflyer »

i have seen the 1.2" led displays on adafruit ( the backpacks ) i am looking for larger displays that operate like the back packs.
do they make larger ones ?
if not how can i make my own ? the backpacks seem to use just 4 connections. (I2C)
example ---> https://www.adafruit.com/products/1269

So the example you show in the link above seems to be based on the HT16K33 chip detailed here:

https://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/ht16K33v110.pdf

So, if you were to just get the "backpack" board they sell here:

https://www.adafruit.com/products/1427

and then use discreet LEDs for each segment, you could make a pretty big display like this:

Or like this one made from glue sticks:

Or heck, go all out and make a 12 FOOT display like this:

:shock: :grin:
