I have obtained an electric wheelchair. Its an invacare circa 1990. The joystick assembly has been severed from the controller. The wire is gone. I still have about three inches of each wire still soldered to the leads inside the joystick assembly. How do I go about recreating the wire that went to the controller. I can't find schematics for it. model number on the joystick assembly is 1024154 model number for the "arrow micro computer controller hookup" is #1020393.

The chair has 2 24v magnatek motors. and runs off of 2 car batteries. I am thinking of trying to convert this into some other form of transport. It also has a hydraulic system for back support or something. I'm looking for some help on this project. I am in Raleigh, NC. Any ideas for what I could make are always welcome. My first idea was an electric skateboard, but the parts are too big. But maybe some four wheeled person mover. The motors were powering big standard size rear wheelchair wheels.

Some of these wheelchairs have a seperate H Bridge unit, some have everything built into the joystick housing. If you have a seperate H bridge, you could use a PIC microcontroller to control it with PWM inputs. Perhaps you could make some sort of Segway like people mover, but most of these chairs will only do 4 mph or so.

Hello lauriegrove.

I have one suggestion to help you in how to sale your electric wheelchair.
I think that this products get the maximum value for the dollar.
They incorporate as many features and extras as possible in every power chair and scooter.
This is my opinion and try to discuss this topic with other people also.
