Re: Halogen Lamps

I have experienced the same thing myself with 500w halogen floodlights that I put on the exterior of my house. The manufacturer of the lamps supplied generic made in china bulbs and they all burned out within 10 hours. I replaced them with GE branded halogens and had no problems since.

Re: common lcd tv service problems

Hi, Thanks for your interest in my troubleshooting method. First of all, the power supply is the only part that is serviceable in the LCD monitor. I have fixed lots of tv's and CRT monitors for people in this community which is so small that everyone knows everyone. The vast majority of failed compo...

Re: common lcd tv service problems

Here is one service problem: 2 weeks ago I had an lcd computer monitor come to me for repair. The complaint was that it keeps turning itself off every 5 minutes and needed to be unplugged for several minutes to get it to reset itself. I took it apart and found 3 open or dried out electrolytics in th...

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, This projector has 4 circuit boards: the main power supply, the lamp power supply, the keypad board (which also has the fault indicator lights on it), and the main board which has all the input jacks on it and is where the brains of the projector are located. I disconnected the main power supply...

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, I simply used a DMM to measure the outputs of the power supply. I tried to operate the power supply by itself without a load. It won't put out anything. Possibly it's like a computer power supply that has to be switched on externally somehow in order to function.

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, Yes, I do have the owners manual and the fault indicator descriptions that I posted came from that manual. I reassembled it and ran it without the enclosure, but it still shuts down just as quickly. The fans push air through the areas that need cooling. The projector is not mine, it belongs to t...

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, Unfortunately I am unable to find a schematic. All outputs from the power supply are dead when the unit shuts down. I checked the power supply out thoroughly visually and tested everything but cannot find anything wrong. I am giving up on this one. Thanks everyone for your advice!

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, I don't have another lamp on hand. The lamp is powered from some kind of power supply on a separate board. The projector has a fault detection system which is supposed to light up either one of 2 led's when a problem occurs. There is a temperature warning led that lights steady orange when the p...

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, This projector is new for all intents and purposes. Unfortunately it's off warranty now. I took it apart and it's immaculately clean inside; not a speck of dust anywhere. I haven't reset the timer yet however both fans are working perfectly. The lamp has never been replaced.

Re: Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, The lamp has 18 hours on it according to the OSD in the lamp menu. It's very easy to reset the hour meter.

Dell 1800MP projector

Hi, I have a Dell model 1800MP projector that works for 2 minutes or so then shuts down. I have to unplug it and wait for at least a couple of minutes before plugging it in again in order to be able to turn it back on again. It shuts down again after about 2 minutes of operation. The bulb works fine...

The pot is in a climate control module in a vehicle. I was taking it apart to replace some burned out indicator bulbs. The knob on the pot was so tough to remove that try as I might, I could not get it off without breaking the pot. Then I had enough of the handle exposed to grasp it with pliers and ...

Electrically conductive paint

Hi, Is there an electrically conductive paint or similar substance on the market? I broke a slide type pot and it's a dual element with 2 different resistances for each element. I broke it next to one end and I can glue it together but I need an electrically conductive paint to complete the broken r...
