Re: Neurones, nerves more...
Another thing is that the iron in our blood is not elemental iron, it is iron in chemical compounds, which is different.
I think too that nerves are not conductors in the same sense as wires. I am venturing outside my area of expertise here, but I believe nerve inpulses, rather than being an elect...

Re: dealing with crazies.
When I was a child and got unruly, one thing my parents did that was maddening was to talk about me as if I were not sitting there. "He better realize his attitude..." But even at 9 years old I realized it was aimed at me nonetheless.
Phil, your advice is probably very good, but when aim...

Re: About Trolls and Flamers
Is it truly necessary to start another thread to talk about the thread on how we talk about the way we talk in other threads? All it does is spread the disease. Let it be. Walk away, and the last person ranting will be there doing it alone.

Re: Go stand in the corner, Chris
The last time I overheard an argument like this, someone said, "nyah nyah, I can't hear you." I don't think anyone has yet used that clever ploy.
Seriously, haven't any of you got something better to do than trade schoolyard barbs? It takes more than one to argue. And all it takes is a b...

I'm lost. Is this in response to something? What exactly is being discussed? Well, aside from LED speed, I mean in what context is this important?

Re: Go stand in the corner, Chris
Well, I just read through this whole exchange. There is ten minutes out of my life I will never get back. What a waste of time.
The last thing I would want to do is ban somebody. This is a silly discussion. Chris, you don't help your case with juvenile responses to others.

Re: AVC or ALC ...or ?
They don't do it by clipping the signal, they do it by compressing the signal. That doesn't add all the distortion of clipping. The commercials are "all the way up", while the show itself is only all the way up on the loudest sounds.

A 250 watt bulb under a microscope slide ought to pretty well cook whatever is on it. And it ought to make the scope too hot to touch. Are you sure about those numbers? That sounds insanely large.

And there are places to learn other than online. FInd a copy of The Op AMp Cookbook - perhaps even at your library. It starts with the basics and goes through many typical applications.

Re: LED Surprise
Incandescent bulbs make light by heating something so hot it glows or incandesces. The more power run through it the hotter it gets, so the brighter it gets.
LEDs do not work by heating something up until it glows. It works by having electrons cross energy levels. LEDs can vary as to the efficienc...
