Re: color organ help...

dac,

Could be the audio signal is too low. Check the audio level at the Picaxe input, you need at least 1 volt rms for good response.

Re: Electromechanical latching relay pull-in voltage

Found this on the web: In DC relays, after continuous passage of current in the coil, if the current is turned OFF, then immediately turned ON again, due to the temperature rise in the coil, the pick-up voltage will become somewhat higher. Also, it will be the same as using it in a higher temperatur...

Re: wheelcair power supply

Check out some of those YouTube videos on rewinding the secondary of a microwave oven transformers. They claim you get about 1 volt per turn and up to 100 amps.

Re: Beeper chirp

You could build one using a 555 timer chip or connect to a back-up beeper such as this one.

Re: Altronix 6062 Question

Question: Steve G... Why the diode in the revised drawing, the power is 12VDC?
Len,

Actually the diode is not needed. When the relay contact opens up the only path for the cap to discharge is through the timer dah.

I'll edit the schematic.

Re: Altronix 6062 Question

Try this arrangement. Value of the cap will depend on the current draw of the 6062. Start with a 470 uf as shown and experiment with larger or smaller as needed.

Re: RIP Dean Huster 1949-2014

And now there is an empty spot at the test bench. His power supply shut down for the final time. His soldering iron sits cold. Rest, oh compatriot of the electronics world. Your legacy will live on in the lives of all you have given of yourself. I know that up in the night sky, yours is not a star,...

Order from PHAnderson http://www.phanderson.com/picaxe/index.html

$7.95 for three of the 08M2 chips, shipping is mostly flat rate at $1.95

They don't sell the serial download cable anymore but you can easily make one yourself

Re: color organ help...

Digital is the way to go. Using a PICAXE 08M2 microprocessor and the "pulsin" command allows exact frequency separation with no overlap. The "pulsin" command allows you to measure the length of a frequency which is then stored as a number in the variable w0. Here's a variation of...
