74ALS74
I know that there was a slight difference between a 7474 IC and a 74LS74 IC but what is the fifference between a 74LS74 and a 74ALS74? Is it one of nomenclature? Or is there a difference in loading and 'pinout'?

capacitor calculations
I know what a cap does. (I've replaced more starting and running motor caps than I could shake a stick at) I know there are different types of caps but how does one calculate what size capacitor is needed for an electronic application? Is the desired end result worked back from? How come on one unip...

Re: Joystick controller
Thank You for replying to my question. There will be 3 stepper motors controlling one axis each. nodding, turning and cocking. All are light loads so I don't need the heavy duty CNC type steppers. Re: Jacob's Ladder PCB
Way to go Scott. Was it worth the hassle? For projects like this I am a little like Fabius Maximus, I tend to collect everything that I need before trying to build anything. Your info is part of that collection. Of course in real life situations such pre-project assimilation ain't possible so it is ...

Re: Jacob's Ladder PCB
The website given at 'thinkbotics.com' for the Printed Circuit Board (PCB)for the control of the Jacob's Ladder device given in the December issue of N+V mag. doesn't show the PC Board or respond to e-mail questions about its "promised" avilability. I really don't want to get into making m...
