Ean - STOP
I'm an electrician and wouldn't advise doing anything like that. A 240 V transformer is rated for 240. Higher voltages like this are dangerous to to mess with. In layman's language, the extra 37 V goes into heat. What voltage did you want to end up with? Also, 277 V is 1/3 of a complete phase, since...

Time way off
Never paid any attention to it. At my age, the sun is up or it's not. I think it is correct now.

Thanks to all for all the help.

Primitive radio types
When I was a kid (back in ancient history) I built a crystal radio in Boy Scouts. This I understand, and there are lots of "kits" available. This is not what I want. There were always stories around how soldiers in WWII made primitive recievers out of stuff lying around, and POW's making a...

Vintage programable controllers
I have just salvaged some SHARP brand programmable controllers. I am familiar with Alan Bradley, but not with Sharp. These are "relay ladder logic" and were working when taken out. The model #s are JW-2PU (power unit) JW-70CUH (controller) JW-32N (inputs) JW-32S and JW34S (outputs) and the...

Re: Disposible camera flash project
While diving into the flashrate problem I came across this http://members.misty.com/don/kmaxhack.html which is in another direction but worth a try also.

Re: Disposible camera flash project
Jolly Roger- Thanks for the reply. I like the idea with the Darlington, It will save having to mess with the 555 timing ckt. (also adding the resistor). I will try it, and after the smoke clears up I will report what happens. No, I don't use the worm turner because it makes them taste like copper, a...

Disposible camera flash project
I made a small light that will fit inside a 1/2 gallon milk jug that is turned on by removing a magnet from a NC reed switch. Magnet in place = no light. Magnet removed = light on. This I have done and it works well. This is for "jug fishing" at night. I want to replace it with a strobe fr...

Re: Fuse problems
Unfortunatly, the number (or letters) are unreadable. I have a bunch of glass fuses and thought about the "swap up till they don't blow" method (one of my personal favorites) but wasn't sure if a regular fuse was the right kind, meaning - fast blow, slo blow, or current limiting, ect.
Th...

Re: Fuse problems
You described it perfectly. But all I can see on it is tiny marks that are parts of letters or numbers. Like it was a soft stamp job. Even with a mag glass I can't make anything out. I have a real good source of the glass tube fuses and would rather give it a try instead of just buying another TV.<p...

Re: Anyone remember those 8-to-12 ft. backyard satellite dis
I've still got one but haven't used it for probably 10 years. Since then I've been spoiled by DTV and DISH. Sorta miss it though because it seemed like a real accomplishment tuning in.
Just might dig out all the boxes and give it another chance to totally frustrate me.
