well, the thing is... Unknowingly I bought the backpack boards before i bought the led displays. I was hoping to resolve the issue by possibly with an adapter board, but that won't be possible. I have some other boards that drove larger 7 seg led ( TPIC6B596 ) It's easy to use too, but i haven't had...

Update to the Blue displays.. come to find out these displays need more power than the HT16K33 can supply, China Lied to me again..I told them i needed a low voltage Blue led display. the lady said the leds only need 3.2V to operate, But failed to tell me that the display had 2 leds in series per se...

I kinda found something I am gonna tinker with.. I found in my Junk box a remote controlled Panic Button, and the receiver. I'm gonna tinker with it and see what it's range is.. It was for an alarm system at work long ago..

How would you connect the leads to the cell phone ? Certainly not thru the USB port, unless there's an adapter.
I sure wouldn't wanna push HV thru my ports..

I was kinds hoping to cobble something together or off the shelf..

I see one big problem with this. Will you be able to hear it? If the tester unit is on the same floor as the Breaker Box. Or maybe on one floor above where you are. Then you could hear it. But if your in the Basement where the Breaker Box is, and the Tester Unit is on a second, third floor, or high...

heehee... good idea.. the more you use it,,the more it'd be charged..

Update>> Seems to work only after it cuts off,Pressing HOLD after it cuts off, it'll turn back on and stays on til you turn it off..

Tried that before, didn't work,, But i did find this out... Once the meter beeps right about the 14 min mark (warning turn off beep 3x)
When it does this press the HOLD button 1x and and it'll stay on...
Will also work after it cuts off, just press the HOLD button and it'll stay on..

the meter actually turns off after 15 min.. I'm still arguing with the meter to figure out what i have done to make it stay on beyond the 15 min mark... I've done it 2x now, but i can't remember how, So now i am writing it down...lol

Uhhh, I can't remember which button i pressed on the Extec.. but it hasn't shut off in the last 65 min..
So there is an override.. I just have to figure it out now which one i pressed... Stay tuned....Have to start over...lol

I actually just got a Fluke 77-4 It's nice.. and I have already learned that auto shut off can be overidden and the same for backlight to stay on as well...And work paid for it..lol The Extec, it might be up to 30 min, but it sure doesn't seem like it..
