Aquarium Backup
I'm using an inverter to power my aquarium pump when the power goes off. But I need to manually unplug the pump from AC, and move it to the Inverter. Is there a really simple circuit that would cut to the inverter when the AC went off ? Ideal would be to have another to recharge the battery when it ...

Charging from Multiple sources
My son and I are working on a (mostly) human powered boat. For lots of reasons, we are going to use an pair of electric motors, powered by some deep discharge batteries. The charging will be done by pedaling the generator circuit. Our test bed worked fine with one battery.
In thinking about this,...

Monitoring Battery Condition
Anyone got a simple ( ie beginner level) way to measure the volt/amp condition of a set of nicads with a microcontroller ? I need to make sure that the batteries driving my tethered robot are ok and have it return if they drop below a certain point. 7X1400mah cells.

Another ROV Question -Tilt
I'm spending a lot of effort keeping my UW ROV level so to speak. I would like to add a simple circuit to sense pitch and roll and correct automatically.
Any ICs out there for that ? I have a tilt switch from a pinball but it's a bit too "mechanical".
Recommendations ?

Do Compasess work underwater ?
ok; it's probably a stupid question but I've been surprised before.
I've got an underwater ROV that needs to be able to tell me at least what direction it's heading. I was going to lookup and purchase an IC Compass. Any issues ?
Thanks

1500ma from a 12V battery
I've just gotten a new video camera for a project and the Powersupply is 12v 1500ma but from AC. My old camera used a 9v transitor battery and I am hoping to power the camera from either a second set of batteries or the automotive battery on the boat. While both are 12V,I don't think I want to conne...

Re: p.p.m to p.w.m conversion
I asked a similar question around OOPIC processing not long ago. I ended up using a PAK-VII pulse input coprocessor ( Al Williams)
My intent was to read a servo and convert to something I could manipulate using the oopic and send it on to the servo. Seems to work on my test bed and the instruction...

High AMP Conversion
I need to provide about 20AMPS of power @ 9-12 volts. All the voltage regulators I see stop at a max of 5 amps.
Are there components rated for 20 or do I have to choose a different direction ?

Re: Multiple Speed Controls
btw: I gave the total battery capacity in the original because I'm not sure what makes a difference. They are multiple cell packs in series.
Thanks

Re: Multiple Speed Controls
Sorry for the delay. Business Travel.
Yes, if you can sketch out the circuit I would appreciate it. I can't afford the power loss from the resistor network athough I at least understand that one !
Thanks

Multiple Speed Controls
I'm driving four motors and one computer from one battery pack. Two of the motors ( and their speed controls) will handle the current direct from the battery. Two motors and the CPU however, will not. They need quite a bit less.
So I need to drop 12V,3000 mah to 9V, 300 mah for the computer and 9...
