Functional Generator Question

Has anyone ever thought of building a functional generator that produces sinewave, squarewave & triangle wave signals over a range of 1Hz to 20kHz or hgiher. I came across one design using the MAX038 (Maxim)chip. This chip also provide a TTL signal which make it easy to add an 8 digit frequency ...

Re: *** Need Help Choosing a Tektronix Scope ***

Dean, your are absolutely right and I certianly respect your opinion. I must say I would love to have purchased a Tektronix unit but instead picked a cheaper alternative and for my purchase suits me satisfactory for the frequency of use. If quality, reliability and vendor support is a concern certai...

Re: *** Need Help Choosing a Tektronix Scope ***

Fred, there was a goood article in Nuts & Volts about the Oszifox scope model. The disadvantage is teh built in screen is too small and you need to rely on having it connected to a PC in order to do any serious viewing of the signal. In my case I purchased their other product called the Multisco...

Re: *** Need Help Choosing a Tektronix Scope ***

Fred, the Protek scope come swith a 1 year warranty. The manual is good. It is a typical analogue scope. Comes with 2 probes. I also thought of the Tektronix scope but pricing is too high for my use. Dave

Re: *** Need Help Choosing a Tektronix Scope ***

Fred, ealier in the year I purchased a Protek 40Mhz scope from Circuit Specialist. I have found the scope to work well and really good value for the price at $319. Circuit Specialist generally advertize on the back 2 pages of Nuts & Volts. I found them to be very good and fast based on placing a...

Re: Telephone Ring Indicator

Here is a useful site http://www.ee.washington.edu/circuit_archive/circuits/F_ASCII_Schem_Tel.html#ASCIISCHEMTEL_002 that shows a simple LED indicator circuit for a ringing line. There are several circuits on this page. Another idea, that I have not tried. Since hte ringing signal is approx 84v 20 h...

Re: Electronics Simulation Software

Al I noticed in your artiles that you adjusted the power supply in example 1 to have 5000 ohms, is this to represent the the resistance of a typical circuit that would be atatched to this filter or is it to repreent an internal resisitance of a power source. Also I noticed that in order to get the a...

Re: Electronics Simulation Software

My interest in circuit simulation programs has been rekindle for the past year with the attempt to recreate a number of the circuits that are presented in the various projects and in the TJByers Q&A forum such in Nuts & Volts. In some cases I thought why did I not think of that in terms of t...
